The forty-eighth installment in our sly boots of a new series.

If you’re going out to bet on the ponies, don’t say it in exactly those words to your ladyfriend. Instead go: “Honey, I’m going out to humble myself before the whims of Fortune, so’s to more clearly bring my preconception of what is reasonable and unreasonable in alignment with nature.” It’s roughly the same idea; it just sounds a little better for some reason to the female of the species.
