Song of Those Who Prepare and Pour Coffee for Commercial Consumption

I’d like to pause—I’d like us all to pause—to celebrate those who, early morning after early morning, dedicate themselves to the preparation, pour, and sale of coffee (—even those who do not drink coffee themselves, for whom I usually reserve deep opprobrium and suspicion): thank you, comrade, for your stalwart preparation of this crucial beverage, the artisanal as well as the dunkindonutian, from the coffee shop to the truck stop. Thank you for allocating these precious durations from your finite allowance of temporality to enable me, consumer, to inhabit my allocated time with more precision and certitude.
