On Taste

Some people I see, they take great pleasure in making a show of their tastes. “This wine is better than that one,” they announce. Or: “Here are my thoughts on this restaurant.” Then they sit back and await congratulations. Or, worse: admiration.

For the Enthusiast, meanwhile, the only taste is for becoming fully oneself — and for spitting on fear and cowardice of spirit. Everything else is vanity.
